Demba Ba definitely did. Sakho to some extent.

If you're not talking about WHU only, then the vast majority of foreign strikers in the PL have hit the ground running - Aubamayeng, Aguero, Jesus, Firmino, Jimenez, etc. etc.

Chelsea's a graveyard for foreign strikers and we ain't much better but generally foreign strikers do fine, so it's a silly statement. You just need to get one who'll fit with how the team plays.

When was the last striker that came in from abroad as a striker and hit the ground running in the PL?

I feel like whoever we get in its going to take ages for them to bed in. Which means we will have to rely on Antonion/Bowen/Yarma for a while if we really want to win games.

If we want someone to come in and instantly challenge Antonio this season its going to have to be a PL or Championship player. And thats going to cost bucks because to get someone as good as Antonio (all aspects of his game) from the PL is going to be expensive.

I'm worried we pay big money for a Werner. Great record in another league but will take ages to adjust to our league.

Who should be a good fit for us from the PL? Bamford maybe?

.......also the odd win against the bigger clubs doesn't make that much difference unless you are consistently beating the club's below you.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Maybe but how many times have we beaten Liverpool in modern history? They fit with your claim about City.
Spurs will probably improve, as will Man U, then there's possibly, Arsenal, Wolves and Leicester who could be in the mix for top 6 too.
We must improve our attacking play and options, and be more clinical otherwise I can see us not even making top 6 which would be an underachievement unless we can win one of three cups. Nothing wrong with overachieving, that's how Leicester won the league.
With Chelsea coming up and the above mentioned others now on our tails, we need to be beating the likes of Brighton at home.

I3 Brentford Rd,

Or carry on beating the likes of Tottenham & Liverpool at home.

As I said top 6 is more realistic but we must improve our attacking play & optionsand beat the likes of Brentford & Brighton at home to stand a chance of that.

What you're now asking for Brentford, is for us to be performing at the same level as the top 3.

Not while we have a hole in our arse, will we perform to that standard, without more investment.

13 Brentford Rd,

Like i said earlier, we've been over acheiving.

4th in the league, topped our EL group and in the QF of the League Cup.

As I said previously, i think what we do in the Jan window will determine a lot.

Yes, we do need another striker option- but we can't do fuck all about that, till January.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
WONG - Which is why we should have got something at Wolves &/or not lost at home to fucking Brentford after missing endless chances!
Similarly with Chelsea coming up the game after, we must beat Brighton and start converting more chances if we are serious about top 6.

We haven't played well for a while now and the cracks are beginning to show.
Antonio needs benching too but we didn't bother signing another striker, again.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Let's be realistic here.

If we play Man City 10 times at their place, we'd have to be full strength (meaning Ogbonna doesn't get injured, so Masuaku doesn't play) and play at our very best with a slice of luck chucked in, just to have a chance of drawing and winning maybe 3 of those games.

I'm being very generous, there.

That's the way it is chaps

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I don't think Benrahma's early chance was that easy in any absolute sense, as the ball into him was slightly behind him.

Perhaps it should've been easy FOR HIM - given his quick feet, he should've been able to adjust.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
People on here saying things about Antonio that remind me of Clyde Best.

Reality is that he is the best at the club for the moment to do the job that Moyes wants. It would be good to replace Antonio with someone better but that goes for any other of our players.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I quite like Masuaku playing in midfield or wing back, I guess blinded by his twinkle toed magical dribbles.
If your going to blame him for the first goal, surely you have to blame Antonio for the 2nd, but no mention on here. Antonio was passed the ball screwed it up and gave it straight back to City who went on to score. If he couldn’t control the ball, just kick it off or up field. It’s school boy, but better than launching City into another attack from the just outside of your penalty area.

"If the three chumps of Johnson, Masuaku and Benrahma start we will struggle to beat Brighton."

Your lack of nuance is astounding. Even when it is clearly bait.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Exactly. It works well when its instinct (First time finishes etc). He will rarely score a goal where he has actually ran with the ball, although he did against El Salvador recently.

His goal against Norwich behind closed doors a couple of seasons ago shows what he does. He ran straight into Krul, but somehow the ball bounced up and left him with an open goal.

He's the best, worst footballer the premier league has ever had.

don't think he knows what he's going to do half the time.
